2021 – A Year In Review

2021 marked four years in my chronic pain struggle. However, it was also the year that brought healing. In May of 2021, I had a blood patch procedure that healed my chronic migraines. I still suffer from periodic migraines, but the day-in day-out, constant pain is gone. Praise Jesus!

Just a few months after being healed from chronic migraines, I came down with Covid. I was in the hospital for 31 days. I was near death, but God saved my life. My hope is that my life continually points back to Him so I can say with Paul, “To live is Christ.”

Despite life’s challenges, I was able to accomplish a whole lot. I authored and contributed to twelve books that came out this year (see below). I wrote over 25 blog posts. Including “He’s My Adonai” and “Praying When it Hurts.” I was featured in my local paper, spoke at a prayer conference, and was a guest on the Joni & Friends podcast. Plus so much more. Looking back, 2021 was an amazing year.

Looking Ahead

So what’s next for me?

I’m working on co-authoring a devotional about the names of God. I’ve become a contributing author at Worth Beyond Rubies. I’ll continue to manage Candidly Christian. And I have several other hopes/dreams for my writing life in 2022.

The anthology I’m working on this year is called Grace Gab. If you’re interested in contributing or would like more information, you can find that here.

Coping with Chronic Migraine

Have you heard of Joni & Friends?

It’s a ministry that was founded by Joni Eareckson Tada, who became a quadriplegic at the age of 17. Her ministry has grown by leaps and bounds over the past 40 years. And I was blessed to have the opportunity to share my story on her podcast today.

Heather Hart Speaks at Upcoming Prayer Conference

After struggling with chronic pain for years, Heather Hart has learned how to cling to Jesus when the going gets tough. She says she would not have survived the past few years without her personal relationship with Jesus. Hart is a stay-at-home mom, internationally best-selling and award-winning author, and author coach/mentor.

In 2017, Heather came down with the worst migraine you can imagine, and it never went away. In the past three and a half years, she has only had one pain-free day. In her newly released book, Clinging to Jesus, Hart shares ten ways to pray and meditate on God’s Word when you’re in pain.

One early reviewer said, “As someone who deals with memory and cognitive issues, I felt [Clinging to Jesus] was very easy to read. But even more so, I was grateful for the grace and peace it gave me about my inability to remember Scriptures and their references, or even my own prayers. I’ve felt like such a failure in my own head but Clinging to Jesus helped me see that Jesus loves me for who I am, and there is no condemnation for what I’m not.”
