May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ

– 2 Thessalonians 3:5

The Gospel

In the beginning, God created the world (Genesis 1:1). God is love (1 John 4:8), and He created humankind in His image (Genesis 1:27). He created us so He could love us, and we could love Him.

However, a forced love is no love at all, so He gave us free will. With that freewill, we rejected God’s love for us (Genesis 3) and that separated us from Him. Not just for the moment but for all eternity (Romans 6:23). And no matter what we do, we can never earn our way back into His good graces.

But God so loved the world that He gave His only Son (Jesus) that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

Jesus lived a perfect life and then died on the Cross for our sins (Romans 5:8). He became the bridge that allows us to be reunited to our loving God. But a bridge does us no good if we don’t cross it.

When we take the first step towards trusting Jesus we are ushered into God’s open arms and nothing can separate us from His love ever again (Romans 8:38-39). Because Jesus paid the price for our sins, past, present, and future.

So what’s next?

If this is the first time you’ve heard the gospel or you are ready to believe here’s what to do next.

  1. Admit you are a sinner in need of a savior
  2. Believe Jesus is that Savoir.
  3. Repent and be willing to turn from your sins and start living for Jesus.
  4. Receive a restored relationship with the God who created you.
  5. Let someone know!
  6. Get plugged in to a local church or body of believers.
